Controller


Our client, Sancton Group Inc., has been one of Atlantic Canada’s leading suppliers of scaffolding equipment and aggregate machinery for the industrial sector since its establishment in 1910. With offices in Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia the company prides itself on its dedication to quality, customer service and employee satisfaction.

Sancton is seeking the services of an experienced Controller to be based at its head office in Saint John. Reporting to the President, the Controller will be responsible for managing the financial and accounting processes of the business and providing strategic financial leadership to senior management.

In addition to managing the day to day accounting functions, the successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, cash management, budgeting and forecasting, cost control and financial analysis. As a key member of the Sancton team, they will ensure senior management has accurate and comprehensive financial information to make informed and timely business decisions.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• A university degree in business.
• A professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA).
• At least 5 years experience in a comparable position, ideally within the construction or industrial sector.
• Strong financial analysis skills.
• Proficiency in the use of computer-based accounting programs.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Well organized with effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated financial leadership abilities.
